Looks like MCOG Weekly will stay :) Rene has kindly offered to continue hosting the MCOG Weekly site, although without the episodes I guess I'll have to start working on some content :)
For information regarding the DVD release, scroll down a bit or head over to the forum to discuss it with other fans.

MYSTERIOUS CITIES OF GOLD FINALLY SEES AN ENGLISH DVD RELEASE!
I was just emailed by the company involved who has finally obtained the long missing rights, and when asked for further information on the release they kindly replied with this:
" We are set to release the unedited
full 39 episodes initially in the UK in Feb 2008. The plan at the moment is
to do 3 double dvds with eps 1-13,14-26,27-39. They will be in a normal DVD
case with a card outer wrap. There will be a booklet with episode details
and possibly a poster. We are doing a special edition with a retailer where
all these 3 sets come in a bigger box with some kind of exclusive gift yet
to be decided. This will then be released soon after in the USA and
Australia. We are just about to start a very expensive picture and sound
restoration in London. We are going to interview Jean Chalopin so we are
asking fans if they have any questions I can put to him. We are also trying
to source more images to use for the packaging as it seems not a lot has
survived. I have episode synopses and about 40 images so far so any help
would be much appreciated. There are a lot of fans out there wanting to help
which is great news. We really want to make this an amazing set for the fans
so if you have any great ideas then please let me know
In light of that fantastic news I'm going to remove the episodes and clips from the site :) And make a new section about it on the forum to discuss the release, any ideas, surviving MCOG material, and the interview.
Episode 39 would have been online :) In a way it's appropriate I got the email right as the series would've ended.
I recently missed MCOG Weekly's fifth birthday, Kaspa started it way back in august 2002, the first news entry dated 22 August 2002 and me getting the email now on September 14th of 2007, means MCOG Weekly has lasted at least five years between the efforts of Kaspa, Rene, Merlin, myself, and Nadav for getting me the few episodes I missed when I first took up the reins in May 2005, plus countless other volenteers who've offered help, time, encouragement and thanks. Also David for supplying many of the avatars you see on the forum and to everyone who posted there. I'm happy I was able to share at least part of the series and your childhood memories for a while, and for all the guestbook entries or emails I got with people mentioning how much the series and the chance to see it again, I know it was worth it :)
Given that I have no idea what will happen to MCOG Weekly now. I had always planned to expand on the site as soon as I was able (which I was just about to start, actually ;) check the previous week's news if you don't believe me) but I do not host the site, I only manage it and the weekly uploads :) The actual site space itself is hosted by Rene, along with half the episode each week, and the other half of the episode I upload to Merlin's server (without their help there wouldn't have been a site for as long as there has, if you have time, please drop them a line thanking them. There are links to their email addresses on the download page). So now that the episodes are over the site may be as well. If Rene is interested in it remaining on his server, and as is (without episodes), then I will continue to work on the site. If not then I'll think about hosting it elsewhere, possibly, I'm not sure as it would involve making an entirely new site in many ways. In any case, email me if you would be interested to see MCOG Weekly continue in this way :)
Whether or not the main site continues, the forum which has always been hosted separately will still be there for you to post on.
Since the long lost copyright to the Mysterious Cities of Gold have been found, MCOG Weekly as a downloadable episode site is no longer needed :) Check back for updates on the site's future or DVD release info if you're interested, thanks again to Kaspa for starting it and everyone else for visiting and continuing it, this site brought many happy memories back to a lot of people, myself included. I'll see you again on the forum, or where ever there's MCOG online :)

There's been renewed interest in the guestbook about official English DVDs of the Mysterious Cities of Gold. Unfortunately as far as I know there is still no official English release and even the ownership of the english version copyrights is unknown, so it's unlikely there will be a release until that's resolved.
Please don't advertise DVDs in the guestbook.
On the off chance they're official (or if you're unsure) you can tell people about it in the forum :) and if they're not official, which is more likely, I don't want to see anyone else pay a small fortune for cheap unofficial fan made copies being sold as the real deal.
A DVD petition has been suggested by one fan in the guestbook and there is at least one of these already out there that I know of. The link to it and some information about the status of MCOG in general can be found by clicking here, and reading the thread (petition link in the first post and provided by Gold).

Episode 19 is finally online.
Two weeks ago I damaged and disjointed a collection of joints across my collarbone up to and part of my right shoulder, I managed to get episode 18 uploaded the night before I was taken to a hospital's emergency area and the week went up and down hill from there. When the next week rolled 'round I was flat on my back all friday, saturday and sunday, and generally unable to move, with my right arm still in its sling. This week I can at least sit at a computer for small amounts of time and type with my left hand :) but am sorry for both lack of episodes and lack of explanation last week. I did not forget about MCOG Weekly, and I have not forgotten to reply to the emails people have been kind enough to send either, but can do little to reply to them still.
Don't worry, episodes should contiue from now on :) Every week, as usual. The really good news being that I finally have a (apparently) working computer of my own again, I just won't be able to use it much for a while ;)
